CONSULTATION STARTS HERE - THE REPORT, THE RESULTS
CHAPTER 8 - THE MAIN
PARK
8.1 Of the 2249 respondents to
the questionnaire, a total of 1,906, or 85%, supported the
managed parkland option. This was the highest positive vote
in the whole survey (see Table 3). The results are
summarized in Figure 16.
Figure 16 : Main Park, all categories, all respondents
8.2 There is also strong
support for ecology (73%), events (72%) and outdoor arts
(60%). Park history scored 49%. There is no significant
support for further building in the Park, with community
buildings and arts/cultural buildings each polling under one
third of the vote.
Satisfaction Ratings
8.3 We have again analysed the
satisfaction ratings for each of the options given, the
results of which can be seen in Figure 17 below.

8.4 The highest satisfaction
rating is for managed parkland, followed by ecology, with
80% and 66% respectively. Events are also strongly
supported, with a positive satisfaction rating of 60%. Other
categories have much lower ratings.
Regional Variations
8.5 We have again analysed the
responses of those in the inner and outer zones, to see
whether any significant regional variations emerge (see
Table 3, Table 15, Table 16). The results of this can be
seen in Figure 18.
Figure 18 : Main Park, comparison of inner zone, outer
8.6 In fact, once again, there
is a very close correlation between the views held by those
resident in the inner and outer zones. No significant
distinctions emerge.
