Crystal Palace Bill
ARRANGEMENT OF CLAUSES
1.
Interpretation. |

B I L L TO Transfer the Crystal Palace and Park to the Greater London Authority; to restrict commercial uses of the said land; and for connected purposes. WHEREAS the Crystal Palace and Park is a site of national symbolism and significance and an important recreational resource for all Londoners, which passed into the control of the London Borough of Bromley by an order made under the Local Government Act 1985, which abolished the Greater London Council: And whereas the Greater London Authority Act 1999 established the Greater London Authority, which has as its principal purposes the promotion of economic development and wealth creation, social development and the improvement of the environment in Greater London: And whereas the imprecise nature of the undertakings given to Parliament by the promoters of the Bromley London Borough (Crystal Palace) Act 1990 has obstructed further progress towards the redevelopment of the Crystal Palace and Park site as provided for under that Act: Be it therefore enacted by the Queen's most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:- |

1. In this Act- "the 1986 Order" means the Local Government Reorganisation (Property etc.) Order 1986; "the Act of 1951" means the London County Council (Crystal Palace) Act 1951; "the Act of 1990" means the Bromley London Borough Council (Crystal Palace) Act 1990; "Crystal Palace and Park" has the same meaning as in the Act of 1951; "the prohibited purposes" means a cinema, a public house, a bowling alley, an amusement or video arcade, a night club, a casino or a bingo hall. |

2. - (1) Crystal Palace and Park shall vest in the Greater London Authority. (2) The functions of the London Borough of Bromley under the Act of 1990 are conferred upon the Greater London Authority.

3. Notwithstanding the Act of 1951, the Act of 1990 or any other enactment, Crystal Palace and Park shall not be used for any of the prohibited purposes. |

4. This Act may be cited as the Crystal Palace Act 2001. |
