A RAFT of measures to make Upper Norwood Triangle greener and cleaner have gone on show for public approval. Retailers and residents are being urged to comment on traffic and environmental improvements.
These include: a one-way road system, new and improved street lighting tree planting and new natural stone pavements.
The £1m package is being taken forward by Croydon Council on behalf of the Crystal Palace partnership for a much needed boost to the triangle, bordered by Westow Hill, Westow Street and Church Road.
A list of improvements was drawn up with the help of the local community, the Chamber of Commerce and the Upper Norwood improvement team.
Cllr Mick Jewitt, Croydon cabinet member for highways, transport and public services said: "We have given top priority to the interests of the local community in developing this major package of measures which is designed to make the area safer more attractive and more accessible for pedestrians, public transport users and motorists.
"We've ensured there is better provision for cyclists, the elderly and those with disabilities. It's also important to respect the character of the conservation area and local heritage."
The public exhibition detailing the proposals is being held at Upper Norwood joint library, 39-41 Westow Hill.
